Santa Lucía Beach in Cuba is a marine-coastal ecosystem located 110 km from the city of Camagüey, in the center of Cuba. It is one of the main sun and beach tourist destinations in the country with numerous hotels, shopping centers and resorts. It is located south of the Old Bahamas Channel, in the middle of a semi-desolate, natural, virgin and paradisiacal environment. It has 20 kilometers of sandy beach of coral origin. The climate is warm as in almost the entire island and its waters are warm. The beach has a gigantic coral barrier, which turns it into a large natural pool. It is part of the northern barrier reef of the Cuban archipelago, which extends from Varadero, passing through the Jardines del Rey to the western end of the northern coast of the province of Camagüey. Between the barrier and the coastline, the sea reaches a maximum depth of 3 meters. The corals house a varied and nutritious mass of brightly colored crustacean and mollusk fish, such as clown fish, parrot fish, crab crabs, lobsters, among others.

Camaguey

Camagüey, also known as the city of clay jars, is the third largest Cuban city on the island of Cuba, located between Ciego de Ávila and Las Tunas. Camagüey is characteristic for its unique urban layout. Its labyrinthine streets are more reminiscent of a Moroccan medina than the gridded streets of the area. According to legend, the reason for the winding streets and the narrow and hidden alleys is the solution found to centuries of fighting against the pirates that attacked the city. This peculiar layout was developed to confuse invaders and protect residents. But the visitor will not only be able to find religious buildings but also places full of culture such as the Museum of San Juan de Dios, located in an old hospital, which will refresh us the history of Camagüey.
